Thursday last saw the second year of Dunboyne AC’s Carton House Trail Race and we were delighted that it was so well supported by our club runners, as well as by friends and neighbouring clubs whose members took the opportunity to race the trails of beautiful Carton House. We’d like to thank our sponsors, Britvic, who supplied our water, and Avonmore Protein Milk, repairing those muscles with a shot of protein milk at the race finish. Of course we also must thank our hosts, Carton House Hotel and Golf Club who facilitated the race in this beautiful location. Club President Lee Mallaghan acted as Race Starter and also assisted with prize giving. Dunboyne AC is privileged to be able to organise this event in such wonderful surroundings, so a sincere thanks to our hosts.
Firstly to our Fit4Life runners who contributed by racing and many also by helping to organise the event: thanks to you all and well done. Here are a few highlights from this group:
– Sam Hamilton followed up her 9 (yes nine!) minute PB at the recent Clonee 10K with a 6 (yes, six!) minute pb on this 6K course – take a bow Sam!
– Jan Rice has taken part in many trail runs in the US, and found conditions slightly softer underfoot at Carton compared with Arizona! Well done Jan!
– Noel Leddy took to the trails making this his 3rd race in less than a week – permission to take a break Noel!)
– Great to see so many class of 2017 C25K taking on the challenge of a trail run, you are all doing so well, fair play!
– Jessica Clarke and Megan Keenan were two great ambassadors for Fit for Youth on the night and did their group proud, well done girls 🙂
