COVID Level 5 Restrictions – Club CLOSED Except for U-18s Scheduled Group Training

Dear Club Member,

The Government has now moved the entire country to Level 5 of the Living with Covid Plan.

Yesterday (Oct 22nd), both Sport Ireland and Athletics Ireland issued clarifications on the implications of Level 5 on sports clubs, including athletic clubs.

The implications for Dunboyne AC are as follows:

  1. The track is closed to all club members except for scheduled training sessions for under 18s (Juveniles and Fit4Youth).
  2. Group Training organised by the Club for U-18s (Juveniles, Fit4Youth) can continue in Pods of 15 max while adhering to all Covid Protocols.
  3. Sport Ireland and Athletics Ireland have advised that the 5k travel restriction does not apply to participants and coaches attending organised training for under 18s.

Parents/guardians are also exempt from the 5k limit when taking U-18s to organised training sessions.

  1. All adult group training (Fit4Life & Seniors) is cancelled.
  2. It will not be possible for individuals to book the use of the track (as the advice states that all sports facilities both indoor & outdoor must close).

Closing our brilliant new track is not what we want to do. But we must think of the bigger picture here.

I want to thank all club members for their patience & understanding.

We all look forward to the day when booking a time-slot to train on the track is a thing of the past and we are all back training together as a club.

Stay safe,

Best regards,

Phelim Glynn

Chairman,

Dunboyne AC.
