Fit for Life Race May Roundup

Fit for Life Race May Roundup

May has been a very busy month for Fit for Life members, so much so that it has been very difficult to keep up with all the running (excuse the pun!)

On the 10th May, a beautiful sunny evening, Billy and Jackie Brannigan, Angela Egan, Lyndon Thomas, Eileen Soraghan and Noel Leddy took part in the Le Chéile 5K in Lexlip.

Later on that week, Friday 12th May Audrey Keane, Kate Quirke, Oriel Tiernan and Carmen Carroll ran in the Simon Cumber 6K in Navan.

Carmen, Jackie and Billy were running again on Sunday 14th in the Terenure 5 Mile race.  Janet Lowthe and Deirdre Brady took part in the Maynooth 5K on the same day.

On Saturday 20th May Janet and Deirdre were out again running the Irish Kidney Association 5K and Jackie ran in 10K event, all for a very good cause.

A number of Fit for Life members, including Angela, Noel and Julie Lang took to the streets of Dublin on the 21st May to run the Streets of Dublin 5K.  On the same day 7 Fit for Lifers Ana Quigley, Clare Bexon, Hilary Madden, Lyndon Thomas, Olywen Read, Sam Hamilton and honourary member Geoff Hamilton ran the Stirling Marathon.  A great weekend was had by all and the small matter of 26 miles did not in the least dampen spirits!

On Tuesday 23rd of May Angela Egan and Nicola Mc Kiernan and Lyndon Thomas took part in the Bob Heffernan 5K in Enfield along with fellow senior club members.

Which brings us to the finale of the month, the BHAA 5 mile race in Dunboyne organised by Paul Gorey.  As usual the sun shone and there was a great atmosphere and of course the now famous and greatly appreciated feed afterwards.  Fit for Life were out in strength bringing a great month’s running to an end.
