The Frank Duffy 10 miler, the third race of the Dublin Marathon Race Series, has proven popular with our Fit4Life group for the past few years, and even Saturday’s torrential rain didn’t dampen spirits this year either; it did rather soak the singlets and runners though.

27 Fit4Lifers toed the line, along with four thousand others, in already-soggy runners to tackle this 10 mile challenge.

Coach Gary showed us the way, finishing 5th in the race overall, and unsurprisingly, winning his category.

Congrats to recent club joiner Sam Anshasi who led the Fit4Life men home in 1.20.22 and Jackie Brannigan who led our ladies around the course in 1.23.24.

Over-achievers Angela Egan and Lauren Flood were showing off again to clinch top 10 finishes in their categories.

Special congrats to four ladies who made their debuts over the 10-mile distance. Annette and Julieann Finlay had made their half marathon debuts at Clontarf last month, but this was their first outing in a 10 miler. They say they really enjoyed this one – imagine! Emma Dwyer and Lorraine Murphy, who started Couch to 5K with us back in January, stepped up admirably from 10K. Well done ladies; we’re delighted to see you conquering new distances, but did you have to make it look so easy?

Well done to all our distance enthusiasts who donned the club singlet and represented us with pride. Fantastic times were recorded by one and all.

Congrats to Ann, Aoife, Hilary, Jennifer, Laura, Lyndon, Martin, Noel, Olywen, Pat, Patricia, Pauline, Peter, Rob, Sam, Shea, Sinead, Siobhan and Stephen on impressive performances all round.

Now, they do say if you can run 10 miles, you can run a half marathon, so who’s up for race 4 of the series next month, the Dublin Half Marathon?
