Home and Away – July running and Fit for Life

It has been a busy month so far and there has been a great variety of runs among F4L members.

Early in the month Ger and Pat Ryan ran the Achill 10k, a beautiful part of the country for a race, if a bit challenging!

Another couple took on an equally picturesque and challenging run last Friday.  Sam and Geoff Hamilton ran the Sea to Sky 10k in Newcastle, Co.  Down, in the shadow of the Mourne Mountains.

The Spar fitlive 5 and 10k took place in the Phoenix Park last Saturday and F4L was well represented, with Jan Rice in the 5k and Aoife Hyland, Claire Clifford, Julie Land, Lisa Stewart, Pauline Singleton and Sinead Webb all running in the 10k event. (Apologies if we have left anyone out.  Please let us know) It was a very warm and muggy morning which made for difficult running conditions.  It was however a real “feel good” race, with Al Porter entertaining the crowds before the race and great support and encouragement from everyone en route, including Karl Henry and Derval O’Rourke.

And so on to Sunday and the Celbridge 5k and another warm morning.  Angela Egan, Janet Lowthe, Lyndon Thomas and Vivienne Lennon taking part.  Angela, Lyndon and Vivienne entered as a F4L team and duly came first.  Congratulations!

Sunday also saw the running of the Dunleer 4 Mile.  A huge congratulations to Joan Hodgins who came 1st in her category and was 21st woman home out of 167.

Great running everyone!
