***Leinster Intermediate & Masters Cross Country Championshipips, Sunday 15th January 2016***

Dunboyne AC hosted the 2017 Leinster Intermediate and Masters Cross Country Championships last Sunday in excellent conditions, thankfully, for both organisers and participants.

Our adults were hard pressed to follow up on the remarkable successes of our Juveniles, but we did our best and did bring some bling home.

First up on the day were our Masters ladies, led as always by Captain Emilia. Despite numbers being depleted the women worked hard and ran well, with Claire running her first XC race in a long time. Emilia capped off a good team performance with individual bronze in a strong category – well done Emilia!

We’d a team out in the Master’s men’s category too however we were just outside the prizes when  places were counted.

Our most successful race of the day saw our women take on the Inter race, with 3 of the women sacrificing their own Masters race for the good of the Inter team. Laura led the way for 2 of the 4k race before hanging on with grit and determination for an impressive third overall. Not to be outdone Laura, Jane, Eva and Carol ran excellent races to pack well and finish second club overall AND score as part of a silver placed county team with Meath. Well done ladies!

Finally, we’d Rory as our sole representative in a strong Intermediate men’s race over 8k. Rory went out hard and was in the podium places for the first half of the race before slipping back only slightly to finish 5th overall.

Well done to everyone who ran and gave it their all.
