Leinster Juvenile Relays 2017 – 21st May

Leinster Juvenile Relays 2017 – 21st May

This year the Juvenile Leinster relays took place in a Le Cheile Leixlip, a familiar place to Dunboyne AC Juveniles. The club took 4 teams to Leinsters where the competition is is fierce and at the level. Conditions were overcast with a blustery wind from the side. Even getting to a final is a huge achievement at Leinster level and all of our Dunboyne teams can proudly say they made the final of the Leinster relays.

U/13 Girls – Aleah Kelly, Kate Gormley, Sinead Magee, Sophie Dolan, were first up and and stormed through to the final in a heat time of 58.13. These guys are all steady and very capable sprinters who have worked exceptionally hard in training. The girls can be proud and say that they are the 3rd best team in Leinster with their Bronze medal coming home with a team PB of 57.38 Well done girls.

U/12 Girls – Kate Gormley,Elizabeth Comeford,Isabelle Phillips,Sophie Brown. Our U/12 girls were up next and again like the U/13 girls made it through to the finals in a heat time of 61.74. The girls had a fabulous race and did superb and were up against some tough competition. In the final the finished in 7th place. well done guys and we will see you back again next year.

U/12 Boys – Matthew Keiffer, Jed Collins, Luke Faherty, Ciaran McCormack, Dylan Ryan. The boys started this race with a Meath Gold medal in their back pocket and after an unusual bad change in the heat the boys made it through the heat in a time of 58.74. The lads reflected on the heat and collected their thoughts and fixed their changes and approached the final with full confidence. A good solid performance and an improvement on the heats saw them just out side the medals in 5th spot with a new time of 58.39.

U/14 Girls – Loreana Harrisson, Dervla McNicholas, Lucy Eglington, Rachel Norman, Kala Ryan. Big hopes for this team as they now entered this race with a lot of experience. A tight finish in the heats with a first spot in a heat time of 55.37. The girls rested after the heats and prepared well for the final which finished with some controversial decisions after a football had made its way on to the track and impeding Ratoath. The result was a rerun. For the 3rd time the U/14 girls all sprinters made their way to the zones. A slightly slower finish time of 55.90 saw the girls finish 7th in Leinster which they can be proud about.

Well done to all the Athletes and thanks to the parents and coaches who travelled for this occasion,
