Podium Places and Excellent Performances at the Ratoath 5k

Our Dunboyne AC members featured prominently in our neighbouring clubs annual 5k race held in blustery conditions yesterday. Whilst many of our athletes are targeting the marathon this time of year, this race offered an opportunity for those targeting cross county to open up the legs.

First finisher for Dunboyne and third overall, picking up an envelope in the process was Niall Cornyn in a fast time of 16:39.

Second in for us and winner of the ladies race was Laura Buckley. Laura knocked over 30 seconds off her PB in the process of running an excellent 18:32. Not alone had we first but we had second in this race! Eimear English also knocked over 30 seconds off her PB, like Laura, dipping under the 19 minute mark for the first time with an 18:58 time.

Next in was Keith Eglington, stepping up in distances following the end of the track season running a time of 19:28 on the day.

Carol Cullinane ran a time of 20:47 to make up the ladies trio, who, at the time of writing, may or may not have won the women’s event, we aren’t too sure yet! Carol has made a remarkable comeback this year and we’ll see real evidence of that come half and full marathon time.

Jim Lineen ran a solid 20:56 which we think is a PB! Ray Mitchell posted a time of 21:55 on the day.

F4Y and F4L graduates Emily Ryan and Maeve Dunne posted times of 22:52 and 23:25 respectively, fantastic runs from the two women.

Fit4Life were also impressively represented.  C25K classmates Deborah Mangan and Therese McIlroy followed up their great Carton Trail runs with great performances, no doubt chatting all the way, finishing in 38.14. Well done ladies, great to see you enjoying your running.

Declan Farrell, recently returned from injury, clocked a great time of 23.44 as he sets about recovering his previous form.

Pat Ryan, ever-ready for a race, was paced by daughter Emily to lead the Fit4Lifers home in 22.52, 6th in his age category. Wife Ger went one better to finish 5th in hers, in a time of 28.33

Well done to everyone! Full results on www.sportstiming.ie and we’ll share almost 500 pics from the Ratoath AC FB page.

Next up in September for many of this crew will be Charleville Half, the Dublin Race Series Half, the Star of the Sea Open XC and the Rathfarnham 5k.
