Upcoming Juvenile Events

Upcoming Juvenile Events

Dear Parents,

Please see below the upcoming events from February to May. Please note and put the relevant dates in your diary that you child will be competing in. As we come through May, I will communicate other events such as Community Games and Outdoor T&F.

1. Leinster Indoor Championships

The Leinster Indoors act as a qualifier to the National Indoor Championships. The Leinsters are seriously competitive and not to be taken lightly. While we will endeavor and encourage to bring as many athletes as possible, coaches need to gauge each of the Athletes ability in training and trials over the coming weeks. As a rule Dunboyne AC generally strive to bring at least 2 Athletes per event with 5 for the relays. The Coaches will know the qualifying times based over the last few years and this will also act as a decider when selecting the Athletes. While we want to encourage and give experience to our guys we must enter them in an event that suits their ability and not to turn them away from Athletics.

3. Meath Track & Field League and Meath Championships

The Meath League & Championships while very competitive at Juvenile level is not as tough as Leinster and strict as National level. It acts as a positioning for the outdoor Leinster and national T&F. Its a great opportunity and experience to try new events and a nice introduction to our U/9 & U/10 Athletes. We encourage all of Dunboyne AC Athletes to part take in all events on track and field. This help develop talent, bring out the best in the kids ability and gives them the Athletes a competitive bug as they experience a fun environment with an opportunity to win medals.

The league is particularly interesting because Dunboyne AC competes against all other Meath clubs at both Juvenile and Senior level. All points count for the club and it’s great for the Juveniles to see their coaches and parents partake in events knowing it’s for their club. So please if you have any interest in Athletics regardless of your ability, we encourage you to compete with us.

You can experience all running events from 60M to 5000M, to LJ & HJ to Shot and even a ball throw for nostalgic reasons. We came 2nd last year to Ratoath our rivals and as the biggest Athletics club in Meath we would like to win this year.

So parents, if not already, start training, invest in a pair of spikes and try beat your own kids times on the track, jump higher/longer or throw further. Our C25K program and Fit Camp are starting shortly, family membership is very good value and this is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a sport alongside your little Athlete. 🙂
