We have had so many questions about DA’Camp, we thought we should compile them. To spare embarrassment, we have carefully concealed the identities of all our enquirers.
- What is DA’Camp and what will it do for me?
DA’Camp is a fun-filled circuits-based class, incorporating corework. It will help you tone up, lose weight, develop core strength, increase your fitness levels, and make you a faster runner who is less prone to injury.
- What does DA’Camp stand for?
It is an abbreviation for Dunboyne Athletic Club Camp and an urban play on “The Camp.” It is pronounced “da” camp not “d.a.” camp. Mispronunciation is a tell-tale sign that you have no street cred and a weak core, so if this is news to you, sign yourself up for our classes immediately.
- Who is DA’Camp for?
Men and women of all fitness levels, aged 16 upwards, newcomers and existing club members alike, including Seniors, Fit4Life, older Fit4Youth members and even Committee members.
- Will I be admired for my DA’Camping prowess, the way I am for my marathon running?
You are not admired for your marathon running Sub 3 Alex, we are merely humouring you as long as it amuses us.
- When and where is DA’Camp?
It is held at Dunboyne AC track every Saturday at 12 noon until 16th April.
- Have I missed the boat?
Not at all, come along any Saturday and join in on a pay-as-you-go basis. The exercises are explained thoroughly at each session, so you will easily pick it up any time. Bring a yoga mat!
- If I do DA’Camp, can we change the bronze statue pose to me doing the Superman Plank?
We’ll see, Sub 3 Alex, but you will have to learn to hold the plank first. Word on the street is you have a big head, poorly supported by a weak core; a very unfortunate combination, but our expert DA’Camp coaches are always up for a challenge.
- Is DA’Camp expensive?
Prices are deliberately low to encourage participation by newcomers and better cross-training habits among members. A bargain at just €8 per class for newcomers, €6.50 for club members and half price for students; a fraction of the cost of the physiotherapy sessions you may be running towards if you don’t introduce some strength-training and, at the very least, cross training.
- Did I hear that right? Did you say cross…..
No, Nick “The Jammer” Foy, we said cross TRAINING! Different concept entirely! However, what you wear in Brady’s on marathon night is your own business and we don’t judge… or sneer when you pretend you lost a bet.
- How many of the Dunboyne AC coaches recommend DA’Camp?
All of them.
- Is there scope for a range of merchandise?
The sky is the limit on the merchandise, Sub 3 Alex, if you can only master the poses (we call them exercises, by the way).
- What does a physiotherapist call an injured jogger/runner who never did any core work?
A “weekend warrior” and a “regular customer.” (True story of yours truly, unfortunately.)
- How would I find time for DA’Camp when I am training for a marathon?
Please see the response to the previous question.
- Would my good blouse get ruined at DA’Camp?
Your clothes won’t get mucky at DA’Camp, Nick Foy, and we have an indoor solution for rainy weather. However, we do recommend breathable attire for exercise and perhaps a higher neckline for modesty.
- Will DA’Camp be too intensive for me? Is it high impact?
The coach demonstrates normal, easy and hard versions of each exercise as well as low impact variations, so the options are laid out for all abilities to enjoy. As a participant, you control your own intensity and impact. You will be encouraged throughout the class but never pressurised. Good fun is vital!
- Will DA’Camp make me more attractive?
Guaranteed, or your money back!
