In Dunboyne AC, we have a large, friendly senior group, with athletes competing in middle- and long-distance road racing (5k to marathon), ultra running, cross country and mountain running. We usually have many runners competing in the Dublin marathon. The club has runners competing at county, national and international level. We also have athletes taking part in Javelin, Hammer, Discus, Shot Putt, 56 Pound, High Jump, Hurdles, Treble Jump, Pole Vault and Long Jump.

Senior runners training is on Tuesday and Thursday commencing at 6.45pm

Training changes throughout the year, depending on the season and what members are training for. It generally consists of a tempo run or interval session. The success of our coach’s approach can be seen by the number of personal bests being constantly recorded by Seniors. No doubt the future will see many more PBs for our athletes. If you’re new, just come along to training. Warm up and then join the group at the clubhouse when the whistle blows. The coach will explain the training format for the night.

Weekend Runs

Coach Tony often holds an additional Cross Country focussed session on Saturday morning at 9.30am. This might be in the Phoenix Park, Porterstown Park, Abbottstown or anywhere there’s grass and hills!

Many members also run in St. Catherine’s Park or the Phoenix Park at the weekends for more distance running. This training is not organised by the club, so chat to other members to see what mileage and pace they are doing and you’ll find a group that suits.
