This year’s edition will also be the Athletics Ireland National 10K Championship.
This local club race with a big race reputation has long been a landmark event on the Irish road racing calendar.
The circuit takes participants on a flat left-handed route through the ‘Moor Of Meath’ starting in Dunboyne Village and finishing with a lap of Dunboyne AC’s 400m tartan track. The route provides great potential for athletes to target a fast time while also being an ideal event for anyone new to fitness, walking or running.
The emphasis is, as always, on a fun day out in a friendly and safe environment.
The 2023 edition introduced a new finish area with the final 380m on our synthetic running track. The start line is at the “dead end” on the Old Navan Road, taking participants on a fast flat left-handed route through the Village and onwards around the ‘Moor Of Meath’ route, returning via Rooske Road, thus offering great potential for athletes to target a fast time while it’s also an ideal event for anyone new to fitness, walking or running. The emphasis is, as always, on a fun day out in a friendly and safe environment with a fun post-race event and the famous Dunboyne AC hospitality.
In 2022 the new 10k route proved very popular. Its fast potential was evident with 7 athletes crossing the line in less than 32 minutes (and a further 31 athletes arriving in under 35 minutes). The men’s race saw Clonliffe Harrier’s athlete Efrem Gidey take first place in a fantastic time of 28:25, while the women’s race saw Fionnuala McCormack, Kilcoole AC first across the line in a fast 32:27. The team races were hotly contested with Portmarnock AC taking the men’s and Mullingar Harriers the women’s prizes.
