The 2nd annual Arthurs Way 5k race took place along the scenic banks of the Grand Canal, in Ardclough Co. Kildare last weekend. The course is relatively flat apart from 2 small inclines. It begins at Ardclough GAA, runners then run along the canal to Kearneystown bridge, where they then take a right turn and run up the main avenue to the Village at Lyons before reappearing on the canal. The race finishes with a lap of Ardclough GAA Pitches.
Peter Somba was the clubs sole representative, and despite some good company in the top 3, and the mixed terrain, he still managed a blistering 15:12 time on the day, to win by a significant margin from ex Olympian’s Mark Kennelly and James Nolan.
Well done Peter!
