Athlone Flatline Half Marathon, Saturday 10th September 2016

Athlone Flatline Half Marathon, Saturday 10th September 2016
We’d a merry band of men, and women, in sunny Athlone last weekend for their annual Half.
Leading the charge was one half of “the lads” Alan, with the Kanturk Flyer, Donal. They left Mick and Peter at home for this one. Both tipped along gently in under the 1:25 mark with plenty in the tank.
Ever improving Catriona Conneely posted an impressive 1.38.32 in still her first season with the Club.
Ger Plante completed what is the first of two Half Marathons in 2 weeks with a time of 1.43.53.
Representing Fit4Life, we had Martin Dillon clocking 1.59.51, beating the coveted 2-hour mark, in what was only his second ever half. His first was Clontarf, merely weeks ago.

And Patricia Larkin, despite having done the Frank Duffy 10 miler a few times, had never before taken the plunge over the half marathon distance, until “the lads” (Believe and Achieve) gave her the confidence to go for it. And she certainly did, finishing in 2.24.29; a time many a seasoned competitor would be proud of.

Well done folks!!!
