The regular SDCC BHAA fixture for the second weekend in January was taken over by Bank of Ireland this year, same location, the usual conditions – atrocious by all accounts. Same distances too, 2 miles for the women and 4 miles for the men, although Garmin’s from Saturday clocked these two races quite long. It usually attracts a decent field as athletes use it as an opportunity to test out the legs ahead of upcoming Leinster and National XC fixtures.
In the women’s race we’d BHAA stalwart Dee Fitzsimons flying the flag for Dunboyne AC. Dee ran an excellent race and placed second in her category with a time of 17:30.
In the men’s race Loughlin Campion took the chance to race having gotten back into the swing of things with training, and he ran a super race, placing 8th overall in a time of 25:44.
Next in, winning his category, in 17th place overall, was Phelim Glynn. Phelim ran 27:11 and is obviously in excellent shape ahead of the National Masters on the 24th.
Also placing well up in his category was our sole F4L representative in Tymon Park, another BHAA regular, Pat Ryan. Pat also made relatively light work of the heavy conditions with another fine performance, a 35:55 on the day.
Well done folks, and best of luck to those of you running in Dundalk on the 24th.
