Big Turnout and Big Performances at a Miserable Frank Duffy 10 Miler, Saturday 19th August 2016

The Frank Duffy this year was an absolute washout, horrendous conditions with strong winds and heavy rain. It was more like an aquathlon than a road race. Couple this with a slightly more difficult route than last year meant that all the hardy souls that lined up at the start line really had to work hard to get around.

Despite the conditions we’d a huge turnout from the Club, and of those 25+ were from our 7pm group. Some but not all went hard at it; some treating it as a tempo as part of the run in to Charleville and or an Autumn marathon, skipping the opportunity to taper and playing the long game instead. Whether it is Charleville, Berlin or elsewhere, this race will surely make those races feel like a doddle relative to last Saturday, it was an atrocious day to be out in.

Well done to all who turned out. We saw some photo’s afterwards, some bloodied and battle scarred, but undeterred and smiling as always afterwards.

Times of course, went out the window on the day that was in it, but for what it’s worth there are below from our senior contingent. Full list of times available on http://tdleventservices.co.uk/

I know we’ve missed Paul Gorey, Apologies if we’ve missed anyone else, it was big field, and not all names have the Dunboyne AC Club attached.

Well done folks, a good run to have in the locker ahead of bigger goals later in the season.
