Couch to 5k Success Story: Susan Byrne

My New Year’s resolution for 2018 was to get fit and improve my health which led me to the C25K.

A neighbour told me how great it was so I decided to give it a go. As a non-runner and unfit the idea of running for 5K seemed unattainable but with the help and encouragement of the C25K coaches and the 8 week programme my level of fitness improved.

I enjoyed the banter with my new set of running friends as we strived to reach the 5k goal. Unfortunately I got injured and never completed the 5k course but I was hooked so when I was able to run again I joined the fit for life with my C25k friends.

Not only do we go training on Tuesday and Thursday we now take part in park runs.
I am to the left in the photo with my C25k running buddies attempting for most of us our first 5k race – it was great fun !

So for all you out there who want to get fit what have you got to lose ?

You could be like myself a year on with a new sport, extended group of friends and social life but more importantly a healthier and fitter self.

Give it a go!
