The first of the Dublin Graded Meets took place last Wednesday 20th April with four from the club participating – 2 middle distance athletes, one sprinter and three throwers.
Shane Nolan was first up and threw a new PB of 9.21 meters, finished 3rd in his competition – well done Shane! Over in the hammer cage Padraig White threw 59.87 to come second in his competition and clubmate Evan Mitchell threw 38.07 to come 5th. Well done guys.
Saoirse McGrath and Ciara Devitt took on the 800 meters, both clocking their first times for the distance – Saoirse with 2.37 and Ciara with 2.46. Saoirse’s getting over illness so we look forward to seeing her time dropping, as well as Ciara’s who has only just stepped over into middle distance training from endurance. A good marker for both. Last of the night was Roisin Bell in her first 100 meter race, who clocked 14.89 for the distance and was pleased with this early season time on a cold night.
Great to see the Blue & White at these track events – an enjoyable night was had by all and we’re looking forward to the next edition in Tallaght later in May.
Best of luck to the large group travelling to the Drogheda & District graded meet tomorrow night, most of whom are again racing on tartan for the first time, and also to our juvenile and senior athletes competing in the Meath League at Claremont Track tonight.
