We’d a dozen or so athletes who made their way to Cork at the weekend for the Charleville Half Marathon. The race is billed as one of the fastest in the country and our performances reflected that. It was an ideal morning for running, no wind, cool, although the rain left everyone pretty saturated.
We’d only a fraction between our first two finishers Derek and Gerry, running 1:18, PBs, with Loughlin just behind acting as pacer in this race, carrying his group into their target time of sub 1:20.
Next up we’d Emilia in her target time of 1:25, finishing 3rd lady overall and Laura just a minute behind, 5th lady in a time of 1:26. Again, both PBs.
Tony PB’ed in this race previously, he was just outside that pace on Sunday but had a strong run with a 1:30 finish. Clodagh had a marginal PB with a 1:32.
For the second week in a row our ladies finished first team but no team prizes were awarded.
Ger Plante posted a solid 1:40 in his home county, Paul Gorey just behind in 1:42. Ray Mitchell ran well despite IT band issues to finish in 1:49.
Well done everyone!
