Dunleer AC 4 Mile Road Race and Fun Run, Sunday 10th July 2016

We had 5 members in action on Sunday at Dunleer’s 4-miler, not to mention the 4 seasons they contended with as Mother Nature threw everything at our hardy bunch.

Peter Somba saw off a strong challenge from John Coghlan to win the race in 19.40, just narrowly missing out on breaking the course record, and reversing the Castleknock 5K finishing order. Well done Peter.

Just a little further down the field, in a race within a race, Paul Gorey saw off Ray Mitchell’s brave challenge as they finished in 29.35 and 29.51 respectively, both achieving top 10 finishes in their age categories.

Martin Dillon, just one day after his half marathon debut in Clontarf, was out to stretch the legs and did a fine job of it in 32.23. He clearly wanted to impress (or possibly even escape) his Louth in-laws.

Claire Clifford, is quickly returning to fitness after a long spell of injury-interrupted training and racing. She clocked a super PB of 39.34. There’s even talk of her being poached by other clubs. The fact that all this talk is coming from Claire, and Claire alone, is neither here nor there. Believe and achieve, Claire!

Thanks to Clogherhead native Joan Hodgins, who was chief supporter on the day and well done to all 5 on super runs.
