Fit for Life race roundup for September

Fit for Life race roundup for September

September has been a busy month so far for Fit for Life members. On Saturday 2nd September Noel Leddy headed back to Kerry to run the Dingle Half Marathon. Also taking part were Annette and Julianne Finlay. Though very rugged and scenic, this course has its challenges, so well done everyone on a great achievement.
The Pink Run has been very popular with Fit for Life and last Saturday Anne Hickey, Deirdre Brady, Jan Rice, Janet Lowthe and Lisa Stewart headed to the Phoenix Park to support a very worthy cause.
Dunboyne AC was well featured at our neighbouring Ratoath 5k event on Sunday last with some very impressive times, PBs, podium places and smashing the course record.
Ratoath AC never fail to put on an impressive event and this year was no exception. It was a friendly and well organised event followed by wonderful post- race refreshments.
First home from Dunboyne was Jane Bandila who not only was the first female home but Jane also broke the course record at a time of 18:03. Laura Buckley came in close behind Jane and was the second female home at a time of 18:14.
Gareth Fereday was the first male home for Dunboyne. Gareth was nicely sandwiched between the two winning ladies crossing the line at a time of 18:12 and third male in his category.
Next in were all our Fit4life representatives who were out in force for this local race. Angela Egan led the group home coming in first in her category at a time of 27:09.
2017 Fit4life graduates Orla Finn and Janet Lowthe both ran an impressive race with Orla coming in at a time of 27:52 and Janet 30:02. Janet was still recovering from her 10K run at the Pink Run the previous day but didn’t fail to keep up the tempo coming in, with a gun start, only 2 seconds short of her targeted sub 30. You were robbed Janet.
Damien O’Reilly came in closely behind the girls at a great time of 30:28. I think that Damien might be hoping to compete with Janet on the race for that sub 30. Don’t go there Damien!
Elaine McGrath and Theresa McIlroy crossed the line at a time of 39:28 and 39:40 and both ran a really great time and enjoyed the event.
