Fit4Youth and Fit4Life at Ratoath 5K

Fit4Youth and Fit4Life at Ratoath 5K

We had an impressive turnout of 8 Fit4Lifers, 1 Fit4Youth and 1 Coach Kavanagh, coach to both groups at this year’s Ratoath 5K.

Congratulations to Rory Kavanagh who was 4th overall in the race in a time of 16.26 as he continues his return to form following his recent injury. Pat Ryan, fresh from his BHAA 5K the day before thought nothing of togging out again and led the Fit4Life gang home in a great time of 23.09.

Hot on Pat’s heels was our only Fit4Youth representative, Maeve Dunne, clocking a fantastic time of 23.28, scooping first place in the Junior category. What a fantastic achievement for Maeve and the Fit4Youth group. Unassuming Maeve had left before realising she was a winner, but proud coach Rory and a beaming Kay Gilmartin were only too delighted to pick up her prize, which will be presented to her at Fit4Youth training this week. Well done Maeve, superb running!

The rest of the Fit4Life gang also impressed. Angela Envelope clocked 28.25, lived up to her name and collected another envelope for 3rd in her age category. Following wife Norma’s impressive outing in the Athlone half the previous day, Declan Farrell more than held his own, clocking 23.34. The Higgins family was out in force as Dan and Michelle brought the baba along for the jaunt. Michelle pushed on to complete the 5K in 32.07. Dan crossed the line in 39.07 with a sleeping baby. “Well for her,” said everyone who had a less “relaxing” 5K experience. Well done to both of you! Kay Gilmartin clocked a massive PB of more than half a minute to finish in 26.29, just one place outside the prizes in 4th. Nice one Kay! As always, Lyndon Thomas impressed in a time of 25.30 and is already looking forward to his next race. It was Sinead Webb’s turn to run and Rob’s turn to be the action photographer on the day. Well done Sinead on your 29.18 time. See Rob’s photos at the link below, thanks Rob.

Congrats to our Senior clubmates for their great performances. Thanks to the supporters who made all the difference. We spotted Clare Bexon, Damien and Ken McDonagh, Ger Fagan, Norma, Crea, Patrick and Evan Farrell, Paul Gannon and Rob and Sarah Webb.

Thanks and well done to Ratoath AC for a great event and a generous spread afterwards.

And Thanks to Rob Webb for the photos!
