Five of Dunboyne AC’s Senior Group take on the Mile Trial, Phoenix Park, Sunday 3rd July 2016
A great morning was enjoyed by all runners taking part in the paced mile, the second such event held the Main Road of Chesterfield Avenue in the Phoenix Park this year. The runners ran down the Avenue, took a 180 degree turn and after half a mile and returned back up the Avenue again. This was a very relaxed and friendly event, free of charge, and open to anybody looking to improve their running pace. Many of the field who took part in today’s event would normally be training in the Park at the same time so it provided a great way to spice up training and incorporate the paced mile into their weekly running plan.
In the paced miles runners get the chance to run with a pacer to help increase their normal pace. The aid of the pacer has improved many runners overall pace over that last number of months. Previous paced mile events took place over the winter months in ALSAA, Santry, on a tartan track.
Our own Dunboyne athletes did really well judging by the paces below. Well done folks!
Owen Fletcher 5:06
