More positive news for Dunboyne AC as Niall Cornyn has been selected by Triathlon Ireland, the governing body for Triathlon in Ireland, to represent Ireland in the U23 European Duathlon Championships in Soria Spain at the end of April.
The event involves a 10k run, a 40k cycle and then another 5k run to the finish.
Niall has been training hard over the last 6 months and this work has paid off with this selection. The 5am swimming sessions of up to 5k, the 80k daily cycles combined with 6 mile runs must seem all worthwhile now.
Ironically just last week while he was out on a cycle near Straffan, Niall was hit by a car when it came out of a side road. Niall was extremely lucky to escape any serious injury but his racing bike was damaged beyond repair. Stagg Cyles in Lucan Village have very kindly offered to lend him a bike for the Spanish event.
Congratulations on this wonderful news Niall and the best of luck in Spain.
