This year saw the All Ireland Juvenile Relay Championships take place in Athlone Institute of technology in replace of the usual Tullamore due to the Masters taking over.
Recent Leinster medal winners, our Dunboyne Quartet of Sinead Magee, Aleah Kelly, Kate Gormley and Sophie Dolan automatically qualified for the National Championships along with 19 other teams. Exceptionally tough competition saw the girls in Heat 3 along side clubs like MSB and Levelle.
The girls rang a strong race to finish 4th in their heat and 11th overall with a time of low 57 seconds. Well done girls, we look forward to seeing you come back stronger next year. Both Aleah and Sophie have their All Irelands this weekend where they will line up in their 600m.
In the afternoon our U/14 girls of Lucy Eglington, Dervla McNicholas, Rachel Norman and Lorena Harrisson who are no strangers to All Ireland relay finals. The girls were put through to the finals by the county to represent Dunboyne AC. The girls again in Heat 3 with a total of 21 teams ran a strong heat to finish 5th in the heat and 11th overall on the day with a 55.86. Well done girls who will all be representing Dunboyne AC in 2 weeks for the Nation B Championships in Tullamore.
