More Juvenile Success for Dunboyne AC at the Meath Cross Country Relay Championships

The Meath Cross Country Relay Championships were held today Sun 19th November at the very pleasant surroundings of Navan Adventure Sports at Navan racecourse. On a pleasant day for running, the course was in great condition with a couple of uphill sections for the athletes to negotiate and all our Juvenile athletes were bubbling with energy and raring to go. The under 10 and under 12’s events were 4 x 250m while the under 14 and under 16 were run over 4 x 500m.

Under 10 Girls (4 x 250m)
Team: Li Ann Grogan, Saidbh Pitt, Holly Ryan & Isabelle Dolan.
Team: Julia Harkin, Ruth O’Reilly, Katie O’Reilly and Amilia Bandila.
We were very lucky to be able to field 2 teams in the under 10 girl’s race which had one of the biggest fields of the day. Both of our teams performed very well on the day. The team of Li Ann, Saidbh, Holly and Isabelle went to the front from the off and stayed there clinching the gold medal after a fine team performance. Our other team also ran very well and Julia, Ruth, Katie and Amilia can be very proud of their runs, finishing just outside the medals this time. Well done to all our under 10 girls.

Under 10 Boys (4 x 250m)
Team: Andrew Norman, George Comerford, Tom Gormley & Paul Magee.
This foursome was in the mix throughout after 4 very fine legs. In another big field with some very talented teams, our boys did themselves proud with a very strong run, narrowly missing out on a medal in a tight finish. They equipped themselves very well and it will only be a matter of time before these boys bring back more silverware to the club. Well done lads.

Under 12 Girls (4 x 250m)
Team: Kate Gormley, Elizabeth Comerford, Hannah Brown & Sophie Brown
This talented bunch is no stranger to big performances and they delivered another big run today against some very strong teams in the county. Always in the mix from the off, each one of the girls battled hard on their leg to ensure they were rewarded with a really well deserved bronze medal. This was a very good performance from the girls, well done.

Under 12 Boys (4 x 250m)
Team: Mathieu Kieffer, Liam Jennings, Ciaran McCormack & Dylan Ryan
Again another team who are no strangers to the medal podium and so it proved again today. Right from the start this team took command of the race and as the legs progressed there was never a doubt that Dunboyne AC would be winning their second gold medal of the day. Well done boys on a very impressive performance.

Under 14 Girls (4 x 500m)
Team: Aleah Kelly, Aoife McCormack, Sophie Dolan & Kayla Ryan.
Team: Rachel Norman, Sinead Magee, Holly Conlon & Aideen Reilly.
Another age group where we were lucky to field two teams on the day. The team of Aleah, Aoife, Sophie and Kayla were competitive from the off and up challenging for the lead throughout. All the girls ran well and battled to a richly deserved silver medal in a particularly strong age group in the county. Rachel, Sinead, Holly and Aideen also battled hard with each of them running well on their legs and finishing outside the medals on this occasion. Well done to all our under 14 girls.

Under 16 Girls (4 x 500m)
Team: Doireann Ni Fhlatharta, Katie Green, Kate Reilly, Bonnie McFeat.
Our final juvenile team of the day got right in amongst the leaders and battled hard with the best teams in the county. They continued to dig deep throughout and earned a well-deserved bronze medal after 4 good runs from the girls. Well done girls.
Well done to all our teams on a successful day out for our club in what is a very enjoyable championship event. Thanks to all the parents and supporters who travelled, including our senior athletes who gave their younger club mates plenty of encouragement.
