Podium finishes for Dunboyne AC at the IBM Temple Street Charity 5k run, 29th April
As most Corporate companies (I guess), IBM selects a charity to support throughout the year. Temple Street was the preferred one this year and there are several activities around it to raise money for them.
One of the activities is a 5k race, which means 2 laps to Campus (more or less).
This Spring race had John O’Malley and Owen Fletcher from the Seniors and Ana Quigley and Noel Leddy from Fit4Life.
There was about 50 people enrolled eventhough we were a little bit less, I would say around 40? . Friday 4pm on a Bank Holiday weekend maybe had something to do with it.
Bang on 4pm, at the ‘burst of a balloon’ the race started. Quickly the ‘masses’ started to thin out. There were many marshals along the way as there were many turns and traffic.
The weather was a bit warm and sunny.
It was a nice race overall. Results were: on the men’s: Owen Fletcher arrived second, after Pablo Sanchez from Crusaders AC. On the ladies: Ana Quigley arrived second after Paula Hegarty from Trim AC (our Fit4Life Siobhan Murphy’s sister).
It was not a chipped race, only positions,… Owen was second overall, John was 4th, Noel shortly afterwards and then me.
As well I am sure we would have won the Team competition and Age categories. Podium for everyone!
It was a great way to start the Bank Holiday weekend.
Thanks to Terence McCann for the photos!
