Seniors at Bohermeen AC’s Rennicks and Fr. Delaney 5 Mile Road Race
Sunday proved to be a very fruitful morning for the many who travelled to sunny Bohermeen to take part in their excellent 5 mile road race on Sunday morning.
Ladies before gents on this one.
Captain Emilia did what every captain does best – leading by example! Emilia spent the week busily getting a team together for this outing. Once she’d a good crew together all that was left was to produce a result to match, and they did. Emilia won the race and led the team home to first place!
Emilia was ably assisted by super performances from the team. Claire, possibly sacrificing her own pre Berlin long run for the good of the team, took to Bohermeen and ran a great race, one place behind Emilia in second overall and first Senior. A fantastic time too!
Laura Buckley has raced regularly for the Club and has been scoring regularly on winning teams whenever she has too. Being on the Dunboyne ladies team seems to be a profitable business! Laura placed 6th lady overall and 3rd Senior.
Ciara Nolan answered Emilia’s call to turn out and put in a performance that might win the team prize for Dunboyne and that she did. She was ably assisted by the Mitchell duo, pacing her around for a super run.
Emily Ryan, the final member of the ladies team, has a track record of good performances in Bohermeen. Emily has stepped up to the Senior group since her exams and the move has seen a further improvement in her performances, the one on Sunday being good enough to place her as first Junior. Well done Emily!
On the men’s front, regular racer of late Phelim Glynn was a fast and excellent 4th place, behind three quality runners and 1st in his category.
Ray was on pacing duty for this one, delivering Ciara to 200m to go before she shot off to win a sprint finish to the clock and earn the ladies the team victory. He also paced son John to first home in the men’s Junior race!
All in all a great day out for our Seniors, F4L and Juniors. Well done to those who ran as well as those who travelled down in good numbers to support.
