We’d five of our senior contingent in action at the first day of the Meath Cross Country Championships which were hosted by St. Andrew’s AC in Broadmeadow, close to Ashbourne. Day 1 was the Novice Race.

We’d excellent performances in the women’s race. Eimear English and Saoirse McGrath were following up on their strong runs in Rathfarnham. Eimear managed to put herself on the podium, just one place from the top in 2nd place. A fantastic result given its just one year since she joined us. Another excellent debutant, Saoirse, was also at the business end of the field, finishing 7th overall.

In the men’s race the Morgan McDonagh had an excellent run, finishing just one place off the podium, in 4th. Keith Eglington and Stephen Griffin, led by example, not alone putting in a big shift with the Juveniles, they spiked up and put in very credible runs. More from them in their respective categories at the Masters XC.

We were unable to field full teams in both races which is regrettable.

Well done to everyone who turned out in the blue and white on Sunday, and to our Juveniles who excelled.
