Seniors at the Raheny 5 Mile, 29/2/2017

The AXA Raheny 5 Mile Road Race was held on Sunday 29 January 2017.  This race is now in it’s 33rd year and is always a popular race for runners of all levels, with nearly 3500 taking part on the day.

The day was quite overcast with intermittent rain but overall it was fairly ideal race conditions as it wasn’t too cold or windy.

The race started near the centre of Raheny village and the first km was a nice fast downhill run, although quite congested.  The race continued around into Raheny village and up toward At. Anne’s Park which marked the halfway point before turning back, starting the slightly more uphill second half of the race.

Overall, it was a very well organised race and definitely one for the calendar.  If anybody needed more of an incentive for next year, the goodie bag was by far the best of any race with lots of chocolate, cookies, drinks and even an individual trophy for all participants.

Ciara ONeill – 33.27
