Saturday morning saw a small crew from both Senior and F4L groups travel just up the road to Castleknock College for their BHAA cross country race. Conditions were ideal for it, and the course is relatively flat, so runners didn’t have to deal with too much hardship on the day. It was a combined start for both the men and women, with the women taking on a 2 mile distance, the men 4 miles. Garmin tells us it measured on the long side.
In the women’s race we’d regular BHAA racer, Dee Fitzsimons, and F4L’r turned Senior, Emily Ryan on duty. Both are used to the longer distances, but have XC credentials. Only seconds separated them on the day with Deirdre placing 3rd in her category with a 15:54 run and Emily clocking 16:10.
In the men’s race Loughlin Campion placed highly in a strong field, 6th overall in a time of 21:42. Loughlin’s in good shape ahead of the All-Ireland Inter Clubs on the 22nd of next month in Santry. F4L’s Pat Ryan never fails to miss a BHAA race and continues to place well, Pat ran an excellent 32:35 on Saturday.
Well done to our runners and kudos to race director Kieran Gallagher and students for an excellent race and post race spread.
