Both the Senior group and the F4L group had 4 athletes in action in Athlone as they conclude their preparations for Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. The Athlone Three Quarter is a last blast for marathoners and marks the beginning of their taper, ran somewhere outside of race pace or marathon pace by most. Its still a challenging course and distance however, with a route around one of the most scenic parts of the country.
Our Senior group had a pair of training buddies take on the run. Group novices Norma Farrell and Heather Harold took to Athlone and ran a steady race to follow up their two excellent outings in recent half marathons. Experienced marathoners Paul Gorey and Philip Mahoney also made the trip to Athlone and posted two strong performances to wind up this stage of their training.
Paul Gorey 2:45:52
Norma Farrell 2:53:27
Heather Harold 2:53:28
Philip Mahoney 2:57:28
Full results are available on Red Tag Timing. Well done to all four and good luck in the marathon!
